How We Began
In January of 2000, with God leading the way, our Special Needs Ministry began with one youth, one director, one teacher, one music leader, one college aged helper and one secretary.
How He has worked!
How we have grown!
We started with one and now exceed thirteen families. We have a special place for their special children - allowing the whole family to be in Bible Study and Worship.
To God be the Glory!
Testimony
Prior to coming to St. Andrew Baptist I attended a small church that did not have children's church. Also, the Sunday school did not meet in the summer months. This made it impossible for me to attend church with my special needs child. Often times I would need to stay with Daniel during Sunday School. He would begin to get used to the routine and they would break for the summer (or holidays) and then we would have to start all over again in the fall.
After hearing about the Special Needs Ministry at St. Andrew Baptist Church, I decided to give it a try. The Sunday School classes were excellent and everyone was very friendly and welcoming to us. Daniel was embraced in the Sunday School class for regular kids. I did not have to worry about him because I knew that he had a "friend" with him to help him fit in with the routine and the other kids. Because of this I am able to attend church and Sunday School. Knowing that if and when Daniel is unable to "handle" the regular classes he would have a class that he can attend. Because of this St. Andrew Baptist Church can be our life-long church.
The Spceial Needs Ministry at St. Andrew Baptist has really helped us. We appreciate all that the volunteers and teachers have
done to make me and Daniel feel welcome.
Thank you,
