Walking   with   God through   Difficult   Days

I'M NOT, HE IS!

What do we do in times of trial?  How do we cooperate with God´s plans and purposes for us during difficult days?

WE ADMIT THAT WE ARE INADEQUATE TO HANDLE THESE THINGS BY OURSELVES.

WE ACKNOWLEDGE THAT WE CANNOT EVEN LIVE THE CHRISTIAN LIFE ON OUR OWN OR IN OUR OWN STRENGTH.

The third thing to do is

RELY ON GOD WHO IS MORE THAN ADEQUATE TO DO THE IMPOSSIBLE.

The Bible is filled with the accounts (all 100% true and unexaggerated) of how our God, who spoke the universe into existence in six days, in His glorious power chooses to use that power for the good of His people!

When Paul preached in Damascus,

  • He may have had visions of leaving the city on a white horse to the cheers of the grateful throng.
  • But the governor ordered the soldiers to seize him and seal the city.
  • Inadequate Paul.  Impossible task.
  • But God had a basket!

When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow down to the image of Nebuchadnezzar,
  • The furnace was heated so hot the guards around it were killed.
  • Inadequate men.  Impossible situation.
  • But God met them in the furnace, and they came out without a sunburn or the smell of smoke.
When Israel left Egypt, they were pursued by an army of chariots,
  • Hemmed in by mountains on one side and the sea on the other, certain to die.
  • Inadequate men.  Impossible scene.
  • But God opened the waters before them and closed them again on their enemy.
And God does not limit the use of His power to what men would label the “grand events.”

A leper whose limbs were decaying on his body,
  • Suffering through life alone with a certain premature death sentence.
  • Inadequate man.  Impossible situation.
  • Then Jesus walked by and the man said, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”
  • Jesus said, “I am willing; be cleansed.”
  • Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
God´s prophet Elijah was hungry, and God told him to go to a widow who would give him food.
  • When he found the widow, he discovered she was impoverished and about to prepare the last food in the house for herself and her son.
  • Inadequate man.  Impossible situation.
  • Elijah said, “Share a little with me, and the Lord God will keep your flour bin from running out and your jar of oil from going dry.”
  • She obeyed the Word of the Lord.
  • And all the days of the drought, God continually restored her flour and oil, and she, her son, and Elijah were fed every day.
Daily, … sometimes hourly, … when the weight of trouble bears down upon our souls, we must go to the Father, in the name of the Son, and say again to Him,
I am inadequate to handle this alone.
I am not able to even do what is pleasing to You in my own power.
           But Lord, I trust You.
                         You have all the power.
                         You love me.
                         I am Your child.
I trust You to get me through this,
For my good and Your glory.
