Psalm 119:153–160 NKJV
153 Consider my affliction and deliver me, For I do not forget Your law.
154 Plead my cause and redeem me; Revive me according to Your word.
155 Salvation is far from the wicked, For they do not seek Your statutes.
156 Great are Your tender mercies, O Lord; Revive me according to Your judgments.
157 Many are my persecutors and my enemies, Yet I do not turn from Your testimonies.
158 I see the treacherous, and am disgusted, Because they do not keep Your word.
159 Consider how I love Your precepts; Revive me, O Lord, according to Your lovingkindness.
160 The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.

David´s enemies are pressing him hard as he writes this stanza of Psalm 119.
  • 153 Consider my affliction and deliver me,
  • 157 Many are my persecutors and my enemies,
He pleads with the Lord for help.
  • 154 Plead my cause and redeem me;
It is important to note that David knows that his enemies are enemies of the Lord.  This is no dispute between brothers or a mere difference of opinion between neighbors.  These are folks who are as against the Lord as much as they are against David.
  • 155 Salvation is far from the wicked, For they do not seek Your statutes.
  • 158 I see the treacherous, and am disgusted, Because they do not keep Your word.
Consequently, David´s appeal for help from the Lord is not his asking God to be on his side.  David is declaring that he is on God´s side!
  • 153 …I do not forget Your law.
  • 157 …I do not turn from Your testimonies.
Dear brother and sister, those on the Lord´s side ALWAYS win.
  • The victory may not come as soon as they would like.
  • The victory may not come in the way it was expected.
  • But the battle and the victory belong to the Lord!
Therefore David trusted in the Lord by believing God´s Word.  Oh what an example he is to us in these times of trial!  May David´s prayer then be my prayer now.  May it become your prayer today also, in whatever you face.
  • 156 Great are Your tender mercies, O Lord; Revive me according to Your judgments.
  • 159 Consider how I love Your precepts; Revive me, O Lord, according to Your lovingkindness.
For when we are on the Lord´s side, desiring what He desires and refusing what He abhors, we can know that He will answer our pleas as He did those of Amos.
Amos 5:24 NKJV   But let justice run down like water, And righteousness like a mighty stream.

We can have confidence in this as David did, for as he said in conclusion,
160 The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.
