Psalm 119:97–104 NKJV
97 Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. 98 You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me. 99 I have more understanding than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation. 100 I understand more than the ancients, Because I keep Your precepts. 101 I have restrained my feet from every evil way, That I may keep Your word. 102 I have not departed from Your judgments, For You Yourself have taught me. 103 How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth! 104 Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. David says, “Oh how I love God´s Word!” It makes me wiser than … Wiser than what or who? And he offers us a list. 1. The Word of God makes me wiser than my enemies.
For reproof For correction For instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16b) However, God´s Word only makes us wiser if we meditate upon it. 97 Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. 98 You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me. To meditate means “to chew on something over and over.” We cannot meditate on something we do not already have firmly planted in our mind. Therefore, a prerequisite of meditation is memorization. I hope you already know each of the Scripture references I cited above. Each one is very basic. We should all be able to quote them. Can you? Go back through the blog and quote each Scripture referenced. You may not be able to quote all of Genesis 1, but you should know some key verses in the chapter. If you cannot quote the other verses cited, look them up.
