August 17th is going to be a great Night of Worship here at St Andrew. I’m excited to have Elias Dummer and his band here to lead us. I sincerely hope that you will consider joining us as we gather to exalt the name of Jesus.
The night will begin at 5pm with food trucks on campus. I Roll Lumpia & Temperley’s British Eatery will be on site for you to purchase a meal. Worship will begin in the Student Center at 7pm. Bring the family, bring a friend, and plan to join us for Night of Worship with Elias Dummer.
Reconnect Sunday
The next day, August 18th, is Reconnect Sunday. On this day, we hope that everyone will make every effort to be a part of their Lifechange Group and a part of the worship service.
Parents, I urge you to make every effort to have your preschoolers, children, and preteens here on August 18th so they can experience the excitement of being with their friends as they move up to their new classes where they will continue to be shaped by the teaching of the Word of God.
Parents of teens, let me encourage you to have your kids here so that they can reconnect with their friends and our adult volunteers who will partner with you to provide them positive influence and spiritual guidance as they navigate the very real challenges they face as teenagers today.
As for adults, we don’t change classes, but Reconnect Sunday is important for us as well. So, how does this effect you? What does it mean to Reconnect? Let me try to explain in a few brief sentences.
To be clear, I’m not asking you to just fill seats. I’m asking you to reconnect and be intentional about studying God’s Word and worshipping Him. I’m asking you to reconnect as you seek to become someone whose life is more closely aligned with that of our Savior. I’m asking you to reconnect with the flock at St. Andrew Baptist Church as we strive to follow our Shepherd, Jesus Christ.
Your presence will make a difference! I pray that you will make every effort to be here on August 18th for Reconnect Sunday.
God bless,
Jeremy

Discipleship & Evangelism

As we look forward to our church-wide fellowship we are calling St Andrew Fam Jam, I want to pose the following question to you – What is Christian fellowship and why is fellowship so important?
We see in Scripture that the early Christians clearly emphasized the importance of fellowship. Acts 2:42 states, "And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers."
These same brothers and sisters in Christ are described in Acts 2:46-47 as, "day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people.”
They did life together. Day by day, they were breaking bread and praising God. And they were doing this together! But why is Christian fellowship important? What is the benefit?
The New Testament word for "fellowship," koinonia, expresses the idea of coming together for mutual benefit. Hebrews 10:24-25 shares this idea, saying, "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."
So, in this text, we see two reasons that fellowship with other believers is important. First, it gives us opportunity to love and helps us express that love to one another. And second, it encourages good works. Christian fellowship stirs these two things up in us.
A third important reason for Christian fellowship is its impact on unbelievers. In John 13:35 Jesus told His disciples, "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” The love Christians have for one another can influence others toward faith in Jesus Christ.
When we gather as the church for Lifechange Groups, for worship, for prayer, and for St. Andrew Fam Jam, we fellowship. The mutual benefit of our fellowship together is that we will stir up love and good works as well as foster relationships that, as they are marked by love, have the ability to influence the world towards faith in Jesus!
I hope that you will plan to join us on July 27th from 5-8pm for St. Andrew Fam Jam. We will have some fun games including a Horseshoe and Cornhole Tournament. We will have a shrimp boil as well as some hamburgers and hotdogs. We will have bouncy houses for the kids and an ice cream truck for all.
It will be fun, but more importantly, we will stir up love and good works among one another and we will strengthen relationships that will build unity among us. And all the while, a watching world will see our love for one another and know that we belong to King Jesus.
May Jesus be exalted, needs be met, and the world be reached…..even in our fellowships!
God bless,
Jeremy

Our city, our neighborhoods, our workplaces, our schedules, our family life, our church life and almost every other aspect of life are all a long way from being back to the way they used to be. And quite frankly, I’m not sure that we will ever get to a point where all things will be as they once were. To add clarity and hope, I really do believe that some things, maybe even most things, have the potential to be better than they were before. After all, our God is known for His redeeming qualities. But inevitably, many things have changed and will change. What that means for most of us is that we are making adjustments, accepting these changes, and settling into our “new normal."
I hope that part of your “new normal” will include being a regular part of our worship services and lifechange groups. I’m not simply asking you to show up so that your head can be counted. It is so much more than that. The church is designed to be an impassioned, faithful community of believers who are devoted to the obedience of God’s Word and the
supporting of one another in our faith commitments. So come and gather with the church to worship, to pray, to study
the Word of God, and to fellowship with other believers (Acts 2:41-47).
Did you know that around the world, in heavily persecuted areas, Christians risk their lives to come together as the
church? It is that important to them, and it should be that important to us. Our worship of God and obedience to God
should be a constant in our lives. Maybe one of the few constants for many of us right now.
Lastly, I want to encourage you with something as we all navigate this season of change -Our God is constant! He is
unchanging. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The immutability of our Father is clearly taught throughout Scripture (Malachi 3:6, James 1:17). I pray that you understand this. Like really understand this. Our God is constant and He is good! He is always good. Regardless of the circumstances you may find yourself in, God is always good. He is
faithful and trustworthy, He doesn’t change and He is good. Regardless of circumstances, our God is good and He is
worthy of our praise (1 Chronicles 16:34, Psalm 34:8).
I pray that we will obey the mandate of our Lord and regularly come together as the church to worship Him. (Hebrews 10:24-25). What’s your “new normal” look like?
God bless,
Jeremy
